Our Policies & Guidelines

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable stay at Bar Harbor Cottages, please review our policies before making a reservation. Familiarizing yourself with these guidelines will help us provide the best experience and meet your expectations.

A 50% advanced payment is taken upon reservation or, for guests staying only one-night, full payment is due at reservation. For guests staying multiple nights, your balance is due and will be charged 7 days prior to check-in. The balance can be paid in cash at check-in if you call ahead to arrange, or by VISA, MC, AMEX or Discover. 

Cancellations: We never overbook our rooms, and we hold your reservation as confirmed for the dates you have reserved. Please refer to your Online Travel Agent (i.e. booking.com or Airbnb) for their respective cancellation policies. If you book directly with us, Reservations are fully cancellable up to 30 days prior to arrival. Deposits will be refunded minus a flat $75 fee if cancelled with more than 30 days' notice. If reservations are cancelled with less than 30 days' notice, the deposit is non-refundable.  If you cancel less than 14 days before arrival the Full amount of the reservation is due.  No refunds will be issued for late arrivals or early departures. Trip Insurance is recommended. * If something comes up and you need to cancel close to your stay, we always aim to refund our guests if we're able to re-rent the cottage.  Please reach out to see what we can do for you should this occur.

Check-in is from 3:30 on. We are a SELF CHECK-IN property so please feel free to go directly to your Cottage after parking. It will be ready for you. The key will be inside on the table and the lights will be on.  Please visit the self-service reception office anytime for extra supplies and information.

Cottages are one and two bedrooms with Queen Beds and fine linens.  Cottages are fully equipped units accommodating 1 - 5 people. Outdoor picnic tables are available for each cottage. All rates subject to 9% lodging tax. Rates vary according to date, accommodation and size of the party. Please review the FAQ page on this website (www.barharborcottages.com) for answers to frequently asked questions.

Smoking is restricted to the outdoors only. Please NO smoking inside any cottages or on the porches. 

Children are of course, welcome. Unattended children will be fed cake and espresso :)

DOGS WELCOME!  (Though NOT in #5, #9, or #11) Acadia National Park is quite pet friendly and so are we.  We are dog lovers and travel everywhere with our pups too, so we get it. YES, BRING ROVER WITH YOU. (But please don't leave your pups unattended in the cottages).  In order to properly prepare your cottage for your furry family member, we do ask that you NOTIFY us if you plan to bring your dog. We charge a one-time PET FEE of $75 per pet / per stay.
